Re: Former President Inaugurates Celebrations
This is with respect to Mr Sadananda wanting to know about the origins
of the Kanchipuram Kamakotti Peetam. To the best of my knowledge this
was some kind of a breakaway mutt from the Sringeri Matham( which was
one of the original Matthas). Some time around the 10th or 11th century,
some of the mendicants broke away from the Sringeri Matam and built a
new Matha centred around the Kamakshi Amman-Sundaresvarar temple in
Kanchpuram.
Any opinions anybody?
