Oh great sage, please provide the answers to these questions:
If I say that Lord Krishna is the only right commentary on religion and
philosophy, then would you agree or disagree?
Now, what if i asked, that since Lord Krishna is not here personally,
the next highest authority should be His direct disciples (i.e. Lord Brahma).
Do you take issue with this? Or is this not logical to assume?
Okay, okay. Now we know that Lord Brahma is also not here right now, he is
on Brahmaloka. Therefore, his immediate disciples should be next in line
(Narada Muni?). So Narada Muni is the next person whose teachings we should
follow.
Of course, Narada Muni is not here right now, so....
I think you get the idea. This is known as the guru-cishya parampara. It is
the vedic system of transferring spiritual knowledge from generation to
generation. Do you have a problem with this?
When devotes like Vijay and I say that we should treat Swami Prabhupada as
an authority, it is because his knowledge has descended through the line
of disciplic succession which can be traced back to Lord Krishna. Why should
you assume that some joe-shmo off the street can explain Bhagavad-Gita as
well as a Vaishnava saint who learned the scriptures properly????
