Can anyone reccommend a good, introductory book on modern day Krishna 
worship? Specifically, I am trying to find the ties between Krishna myths 
and the philosophical beliefs of the religion today.

PS. This is for an intro-level Indian history course. I am unfamiliar 
with Indian history in general and would appreciate books that do not 
require too much outside knowledge to understand.
