Jammu, Apr 18 (PTI) A batch of 503 Pakistanis today
became the first pilgrims from that country to visit the
Vaishno Devi shrine since partition in 1947.
According to official sources, the batch of Hindu
pilgrims hailing from different parts of Pakistan including
Sindh, Baluchistan, Khaibar and Mirpur and Nawabshah in the
Pak-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK), reached Jammu yesterday.
The pilgrims comprising 319 men, 113 women, and 71
children came to India on March 20 in a special train.
They have already visited religious centres at Raipur,
Amarvati, Ulhasnagar, Hardwar and taken a holy dip.
On their way back the pilgrims will pay their obeisance
at the golden temple at Amritsar before crossing to Pakistan
through Wagah check post.
The official sources said for the first time a 30-day
visa has been granted to these pilgrims.
