The Panchatattwa Lingas are the Lingas representing the five gross material
elements. Their name and location (city, state) are given below:
1. Earth Linga
Name: Ekambareswar Location: Sivakanchipuram, Tamil Nadu
2. Water Linga
Name: Jambukeswar Location: Tiruchirapally, Tamil Nadu
3. Fire Linga
Name: Arunachaleswar Location: Tiruvannamalai, Tamil nadu
4. Air Linga
Name: Kalahastiswar Location: Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh
5. Ether Linga
Name: Nataraja Location: Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu
There are twelve Jyotirlingas or Principal Siva Lingas and their name and
location are given below:
(1) Somanath near Veraval, Gujarat, (2) Mallikarjunam in Srisailam, Andhra
Pradesh, (3) Mahankaleswara along the Kshipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh,
(4) Omkareswara at Mandaleswar on the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh, (5)
Kedarnath in the Garhwal Himalayas, Uttar Pradesh, (6) Bhimasankara north of
Pune, Maharashtra, (7) Visvanatha in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, (8) Triambakeswara
along the Godavari, Nasik, Maharashtra, (9) Vaidyanatha near Deogarh, Bihar,
(10) Nageswara near Dwaraka, Gujarat, (11) Rameswara in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu,
and
(12) Gushmeswara near Ajanta-Ellora Caves in Maharashtra.
