The Pittsburgh chapter comprising of University of Pittsburgh and
Carnegie Mellon Universities had a very successful Vijaya Dashami
program on Oct 29th. Durga Puja was perfomed, and over 300 people
attended. Dr Dharmarajan, an active member of Sri Venkateshwar Temple
gave a very interesting perspective behind the Hindu worship of Shakti,
or strength embodied in the form of Goddess Durga. There is a weekly
yoga class, as well as a weekly sports event. Regular meetings were held
discussing various Hindu topics, as well as planning of future
activities. From February, a weekly gita class has also started.
Saraswati Puja was celebrated on Jan 21st. Over 150 persons attended,
and later dandia-raas was performed. Future programs include
Ram Navami on April 1st, and a Seminar on Hindu Women on April 2nd.
