May Shiva bless you! This year it is especially auspicious because it
falls on a Monday. Monday(Moon Day) is very special for Shiva because, He
carries the moon crescent on His hairlock. Shiva is very powerful and
known as "Rudra" the one with enormous energy and heat comes with energy.
So, since Moon represents coolness and has immense effect on the Mind,
Moon and lunar energies are used to cool off the energy released in one's
own bodily self. So it is very auspicious that it falls on a Monday.
