Press Release about VHP Ban in Bharat
For Immediate Press Release
The following press release was issued by Mr. Gaurang Vaishanav, General
Secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America.
Re: Reimposition of Ban on Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Bharat
Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHP-A) expresses its outrage over the
ban of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharat (India). We believe that Vishwa
Hindu Parishad represents a vast majority of Hindus who live in Bharat,
and by imposing a ban on it, the government is trying to stifle the
constitutional freedom of Hindus.
The ruling Congress party of Prime Minister Rao, has no public support or
confidence as evident from its defeat in the recent assembly elections.
The voters have soundly rejected the divisive policies and politics of
Congress government in these elections.
The re-imposition of ban on Vishwa Hindu Parishad, is clearly a political
reminiscent of Emergency. We see the ban on VHP-Bharat as a move by the
Congress party and its leader Prime Minister Rao, to appease the minority
vote in upcoming assembly elections, especially, in Gujarat, Maharashtra
and Bihar. It must be noted that the ruling congress party is projected
lose heavily in these states.
We also believe that the ban on VHP is a move by the Prime Minister to
consolidate his own position in the ruling Congress Party.
We urge the Hindus in America to speak up against this infringement of
freedom of fellow Hindus in Bharat and and convey their feelings to the
Prime Minister of India.
