Namaste Everyone:
We are proud to make the following announcements:
1) GENERAL BODY MEETING:
This is your opportunity to come and find out all about Hindu Students
Council both at the University of Illinois and nationwide. Did you know that
HSC has 34 chapters at universities and Canada. It is by far the fastest
growing organization of Indian-American and Hindu youth. So come and
see what its all about!!!
Also, find out what's going on at U of I. Come and voice your opinion and
help make our activities better for the community and campus.
LOCATION: Illini Union, Room 406
DATE: Wednesday, February 1st.
TIME: 7 - 9 p.m.
2) GARBA - BHANGRA - RAAS
Together with ISA, we are co-sponsoring a night of fun filled with live
music brought to you directly from Chicago. The group Dholay Chhadya Dholi
will be performing live to greatly enhance Garba and Raas. For those of you
who are interested in Bhangra, a selection of your favorites tunes will be
played. There is also a workshop prior to the beginning of the actual dance,
so for those you who want to know how to Bhangra and do Raas and Garba come
early.
LOCATION: FAR Multipurpose Room
DATE: Saturday, January 28th.
TIME: 8 p.m. (Workshop begins at 7 p.m.)
COST: $2 for members, $3 for non-members
3) GITA DISCUSSION GROUP
As some of you already know, HSC has student-led discussion groups for the
discussion of spirituality and particularly the Bhaghavad Gita. In the past
semester, the discussions focused on studying particular verses. This is
the first meeting of the discussion group this semester.
LOCATION: Illini Union, Room 211
DATE: Saturday, January 28th.
TIME: 2 - 4 p.m.
4) DARPAN
As many of you are already aware, several students, many of them active
members of HSC are working hard to put together an Indian Literary
Magazine. HSC actively supports their efforts. They still are looking
for contributions literary, artistic, and financial.
If you'd like to make a literary, artistic, or finanical contribution to
their non-profit effort, please contact:
