VEDANTA CLASSES WITH JIM GILMAN
Jim Gilman, a direct disciple of H.H. Swami Chinmayananda, is well
known nationally as a teacher of meditation and Vedantic scholar. Jim
began his study with Swamiji in 1975, and in 1978 began teaching
meditation and Vedanta in San Francisco. In 1986 he founded The
Silent Way, a nonprofit religious and educational organization for the
purpose of spreading these great truths. Jim has lectured at University
campuses, given workshops throughout the U.S. and in India, and served
as a teacher for the Chinmaya Mission, the international organization
founded by Swami Chinmayananda. Drawing on his own deep personal
experience, as well as a thorough knowledge of the Vedantic scriptures,
Jim has a wonderful ability to make these subtle and sublime truths
accessible to all. Jim does not claim any personal theories or
techniques. He invites the questioning mind to protest against
tradition, challenge idle dogmas, and accept nothing on hearsay. He
challenges students to confirm these Truths in the laboratory of
personal experience. There are many seekers who, without understanding
the fundamentals, are aimlessly struggling along a vague spiritual path
although they may have behind them years of painstaking practice. Jim's
work takes the student by the hand, points out the real Goal of life,
and explains what we are to do to reach the heights of spiritual
experience. In keeping with the great tradition of Vedanta, all classes
are given on a donation basis.
