Re: Reincarnation? Karma?

Actually, by the earliest of Christian teachings, you can only be free
of any sin after spending a specified time in purgatory for atonement.
Purgatory was sort of a half-way point between heaven and hell. But
regardless of all other things, the book of Revelations says simply that
on the judgement day, only 144,000 jews ... 12,000 from each of the
original 12 tribes of Jerusalem would ascend into the heavens, and that
those others whose names had been placed in the book of life would be
returned to the earth without the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse over
them. But why are we discussing Christian concepts in this group unless
they are made as a comparison to the beliefs of the Hindus?

-> and not use Jesus Christ alone to fight sin? What do you mean by sin?
-> If your definition of sin is poverty, then the west did
The Bible requires the church to collect money in the form of tithes to
finance what is supposed to be the workings of the church ... to provide
for the poor and the impoverished. To feed the hungry, clothe the poor,
house the homeless. The inability of the churches to do with their
tithings what was intended was one of the main reasons for my turning
from them.
-> being poor by following Jesus Christ but by colonizing the world and
-> exploiting their resources to their advantage.
What does poor or rich have to do with sin? The ideas and concepts do
not even belong in the same train of thought. Maybe I misread
something, but I saw nothing in the post to which you refer that
indicates the man had anything to say about prosperity, impoverishment,
and sin. Without wanting to sound too harsh here, it seems as though
you might have a fixation with money or wealth. If that is what drives
your thoughts, is that not in itself a sin? Or, you might have an
intolerance for the Christian religion. This too might be construed as
a sin. Or, you may just have grave misconceptions of Christianity ...
which I am more inclined to believe.
