Question on Rameshwaram
I have a doubt about a story pertaining to Rameshwaram. Perhaps there would
be someone who might be kind enough to throw some light on this.
There are two stories regarding the origin of the Siva Linga in Rameshwaram.
One story is that Lord Ramachabdra installed the Sivalinga on the bridge to
Lanka so that the demon Ravana who was a strong devotee of Lord Siva would not
destroy it. The other story is that Lord Ramachandra built the temple after
the battle with Ravana. In this story Lord Rama built the temple to
please Lord Siva, because He had on Him brahmahatya dosha for killing Ravana.
It is clear from both stories that Lord Rama was the one who installed the
Sivalingam in Rameshwaram. However, which story is it?
Thanking you in advance.
