Newsgroup of the Indian capital, SOC.CULTURE.INDIAN.DELHI passes
Fellow usenet users, and Indians, SOC.CULTURE.INDIAN.DELHI passed with an
emphatic margin of 653:95. That is, there were 653 yes votes and 95 no
votes. There were 748 valid votes in total.
As a sign of things to come (albeit slowly), 27 Yes votes were emailed
from India itself. Also, it indicates that the number of people interested
in forming such groups related to India exists overwhelmingly on the
Internet. It is a pity though, that SOC.CULTURE.INDIAN.BIHAR failed by 8
votes only, and that only about 150 total votes were counted.
This vote should encourage fellow Indians who'd like to form their own
Indian state groups, to facilitate posting of local info/languages. The
votes exist!
Again, I'd like to thank everyone who voted yes for this newsgroup,
including the group's other proponent, Rohan Oberoi (email:
ro11@crux4.cit.cornell.edu), who did a fine job in tackling the mid-vote
confusion we had with the vote counting people.
Sincerely,
Suvrit
