HI there,
I would take this opportunity to introduce the spiritual beacon which
has emerged out of Southern India from a small village named Puttaparthi
(very close to Bangalore) and continues to attract people of all races,
caste, color and creed from all over the world. His name is
Satya Sai Baba
He has often said that "My life is my message". I am posting a brief
note on his life and message for the net community.

HIS LIFE :
----------
Although Sathya Sai Baba is not publicly promoted through media, many
millions in almost all countries around the world, are feeling his
profound influnce in their daily lives. They are inspired to lead a
life dedicated to the ONE God as recognised by all the major religions,
as well as to practice brotherhood, to provide selfless service to the
needy, and to lead constructive and virtuous lives.
Born in Southern India on November 23, 1926, he began his mission at age
14, at first demonstrating his knowledge and capabilities among the local
people in the region, but as time progressed his fame and reputation grew,
drawing people from all over India to his presence. In the 1960's persons
from many western countries also started to visit Satya Sai Baba.
Today, Puttaparthi, a small town in southern india, his principal place
of residence, is a thriving beacon of spiritual excellence to which
countless numbers of seekers are coming regardless of race, nationality,
creed or class.
HIS MESSAGE :

Satya Sai Baba teaches that Humanity's basic nature is divine, and that
the purpose of life is the realization of that divinity. This will occur,
he says, through leading a moral life, rendering selfless service to all,
especially those in need, and developing love and respect for all life.
In promoting the universality of all religions he re-emphasizes principles
that form the foundation of the world's major religions : TRUTH, RIGHT
CONDUCT, PEACE, LOVE ADN NON-VIOLENCE. He encourages us to to practise
these human values in our daily lives and sets an inspiring example in
his own life.
He also says that, "Politics without principles, Education without
character, science without humanity, and commerce without morality are
not only useless, but positively dangerous."
HIS MISSION :

Stating that he is not seeking to establish a new religion or to direct
people towards a particular religion, Satya Sai Baba encourages those
attracted to his message "to continue worshipping along the lines already
familiar to you."
He has further stated that he has not come to attract followers to "his
fold" but to light the lamp of love that shines in our hearts so that it
may shine with added lustre.
Satya Sai Baba has established hospitals, elementary and secondarly
schools, colleges and a major university in India, all of which provide
services without charge. He has also inspired the formation of over 5000
centres throughout the world, whose members practise his spiritual
teachings and engage in a variety of community activities.
He says, "Let the different faiths exist, let them floursih, and let the
Glory of God be sung in all languages and in a variety of tunes. That
should be the ideal. Respect the differences between the faiths and
recognize them as valid as long as they do not extinguish the flame of
unity. If each person lives the ideals propounded by the founders of
his religion, unaffected by greed or hate, then the world will be a
happy and peaceful habitation for man."
HIS LOVE :

Satya Sai Baba displays extraordinary abilities and knowledge. His
most heralded characteristic is that he radiates powerful feelings of
inner peace and unselfish love.
Satya Sai Baba stresses faith and confidence as necessary requisites for
a happy and successful life. He says "Confidence leads to peace, peace
leads to love, love leads to truth, truth leads to bliss."
The responsibility for bringing about world peace, says Satya Sai Baba,
rests with the individual. His prescription is simple, yet profound:
"If there is righteousness in the Heart,
There will be beauty in the Character.
If there is beauty in the Character,
There will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world."
INFORMATION :

There are Satya Sai Baba Centres and Groups in various cities and towns
all over the world. The purpose of a Centre is to provide a place to
meet, study and practise the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba.
Most Centres and Groups also have a lending library, offering videos,
books, audio cassettes, as well as other materials free of cost.
Members and visitors are welcome to attend any meetings. There are no
membership fees nor is there any kind of fee charged for any activity
associated with the name of Satya Sai Baba.
