Hats off to Shri Koshy Thomas: A Proud Bharatiya Christian
Koshy Thomas, a Kerala Christian gentleman, publisher of the 'Voice of
Asia' weekly published a rebuke to Steve Stockman, the (arrogant)
Congressman from Friendswood, a suburb of Houston, Texas. The matter
relates to the arrest of four Houston-area evangelists, those who convert
the poor. The evangelists were arrested after a melee at a religious
rally in Bharat few weeks ago.
Writes Koshy Thomas in the Voice of Asia editorial of April 10, "In a
quick response, Rep. Steve Stockman of Friendswood has expressed outrage
at these arrests and demanded the release of the arrested Americans."
"He issued also what was clearly a warning about the safety of the
arrested people: 'until these men are safely, it is the responsibility of
the Indian Goverment to take care of them.' There are aspects to this
matter which puzzle the Indian community in Houston."
"We are also, let us add straightaway, not happy about the way the
Congressman reacted to the incident. Why did all these evangelists go all
the way to eastern India? To see an orphanage?"
"Are we short of orphanages in this country to be similarly checked? Have
we finished healing all the cripples, the blind, the deaf and the dumb
and those sick in mind, around us?"
"The behavior of Rep. Stockman is another example of the head strong
manner in which elected members often behave."
"May we suggest that representative Stockman needs to learn much about
the history of India, its democracy, its parliamentary system and its
judiciary."
"India, as everyone knows, is the most populous democracy in the world.
It is also truly secular country in the world."
"A HINDU COUNTRY [Emphasis mine], India has had muslim Presidents, one
woman prime minister and Christian bishops who preside over World Council
of Churches."
"After a recent visit to India, Justice Sandra O'Connor had only the
highest praise for the Indian judiciary."
"Mr. Congressman, you had, and still have, many ways to address this
issue of some Houston-area evangelists. For instance, you could call the
Indian Ambassador in Washington and ask for an explanation for the incident."
"Or you could call the US Ambassador in India and ask him for a report.
This would be resorting to diplomacy rather than what smacks of
intolerance to settle the issue."
"Let us face it: A crime is a crime whether it is by US citizens or by
Indian citizens. India has a proper Constitution, there are ample
provisions for tackling such situations and ways to enforce these
provisions."
"If you have respect for law and order of other sovereign nations as much
of this nation's, use diplomacy - and may we add - to sort out the
situation, which is not difficult one at all."
"But please do not issue threats to a sovereign country, especially of
the kind which is keen to uphold the rights of all, including foreigners."
"India is hardly the land that will be intimidated by threats from any
quarter. At any rate, rudeness can only bredd contempt."
"May we add that the Govt. of India needs to view this unfortunate
incident as an eye-opener and stop people from SEEKING TO USE THE PLIGHT
OF UNFORTUNATES FOR THEIR OWN SELFISH PURPOSES." [Emphasis mine]
"And it is the responsibility of the Govt. to safegaurd the dignity of
the Nation ."

*****************************************************************
Now, this is what makes us Hindutvavaadis proud of our patriotic
Bharatiya Christian brothers and sisters.
We have been waiting for a long time, for some of our other so-called
minorities to show similar sentiments, who do not waste a second in
inviting their co-religionists from across the border to bomb our cities,
to instigate, fund and fuel riots, to unleash an orgy of rape, loot and
murder, and take their behinds to the U.N. for the most pathetic excuse.
Let it be known that no matter what our problems are internally, we have
zero tolerance for any arrogant foreigner who pokes his ugly fat nose in
our affairs. We shall solve our own problems within our family.
We salute you, Shri Koshy Thomas !!!!!!!
regards,
Rajiv
