How Do I Pay Respect to My Parents and Teachers?
In Hindu dharma, Mother, Father and Teacher have been accorded a status equivalent to God. They are revered and respect to them is paid in one of the following ways :

Pratuthana - rising to welcome a person.

Namaskaara - paying homage in the form of namaste.

Upasangrahan - touching the feet of elders or teachers.

Shaashtaanga - prostrating fully with the full body touching the ground in front of the elder.

Pratyabivaadana - returning a greeting
