Of cousrse the argument whether Sikh dharma is part of Hinduism misses the point. The point is what is true Sanatan dharma. According to the Shastras, particularly the Ithihas and Puranas each yuga has its appropriate Dharma. In Kaliyuga, dharma is meditation on the holy name. The practices of most ''Hindu'' sects are not in conformance with shastra on yuga-dharma. Hence they are not the sanatandharma for Kali-yuga. Sikhism follows shastra in not permitting Varna-ashrama, Diety worship, pilgrimage, brahman priests, yoga, fire sacrifices, etc. The sikh religion as shastra recommends follows the practices permitted in kali-yuga ,hence it is shuda Sanatandharma for Kali yuga and not some corrupt form of sanatandharma or Hinduism.
