Rit comes from the root "Ri" meaning a cycle. Indian sages believed
that everything in the world goes in a cycle. From same root "Ri" we
have many words : Rishee= one who understands this cycle, Ritu = season,
which come periodically, Ritumati = a woman during menses, which happpens
periodically everymonth.
Rit is the order of universe, and applies to everything in the universe,
Dharma comes from root "Dhaa" meaning to sustain. Dharma is what sustains
Rit in our world. Thus all the actions which are in harmony with "Rit",
are Dharmic. The actions which go against Rit are Adharma.
