This is all very nice and good, but scholarly degrees are not
the qualification for learning Bhagavad-Gita. The qualification
is given in the Gita itself, in 4.34 where Lord Krishna advises
that one should submissively hear this knowledge from a spiritual
master in disciplic succession (also discussed earlier in chapter
4, and also briefly in chapter 1).
So, the real question is, who is Dr. Prasad's spiritual master?
If he wants us to take his translation as authentic, he must
provide the lineage of spiritual masters from whom he has taken
instruction, and this lineage must go all the way back to the
Supreme Lord Himself.
I have already show in the past how Dr. Prasad has deliberately
misrepresented some key verses in the Gita, apparently to support
his own, nondevotional interpretations. Yet, Jai Maharaj continues
to post this translation without reservation. It is a symptom of
the Kali Yuga that people would rather hear interpretations of
scripture that condone their lusty desires rather than going to
an authentic spiritual master who teaches them to subordinate
themselves to God. In this age of Kali, people would rather engage
in the futile attempt of becoming God, rather than serving Him.
This attitude merely proves that they are envious of Him.
