I've read books and seen slides about the Ganges river and what is doe
there. I understand that the river is a very sacred and holy river where
it is pure. How is it that the river is considered pure and clean and
yet people bathe in it and the dead are put in there? Isn't dirt from
the body and a dead person considered pollution? I'm confused about the
purity/pollution belief. Can someone explain it to me. This is for my
project for Religion class. Please respond directly to my E-mail
address. My address is: miriama@hawaii.edu
Thank you for your help!!
