Svargaloka is the planet of the demigods, such as Indra, Agni, Varuna, and
so on. They are appointed servants of Vishnu who are empowered to preside
over various departments in the material creation.
There are some rituals in the karma-kaanda portion of the Vedas which are
meant for elevating oneself to these heavenly planets. However, the Gita
clearly states that attaining such planets is a temporary fruit at best,
because such souls eventually fall back down to the earth once their good
karma has been exhausted.
