Dhruvaji,
You have expanded on the Kama concept very well.
This is one of the original 'shakti' or 'energy' concepts.
Kama is also symbolized by Kamadev, a god of lust and sense
satisfactions. He(kama) is known to distract rishis(even Shiva)
from performing tapascharya. He was burnt down on the day of
Holi when Shiva opened his third eye as Kama tried to break Shiva's
penance. Generalizing this so as to encompass day to day life as
we view today, Kama implies satisafaction of desires and emotions
to a large extent.
When we want to attain the four Purusharthas in our life, one could
put some of the emotional satisfaction into Dharma, Artha, but a
lot of it is Kama. This is more true when it comes to married
life.
