Even onions and garlic are avoided. Some also leave salt out of the

There are no absolute rules to be followed. Just guidelines that each
individual chooses to adopt as he sees fit. No one person is to judge
another. It is not for me to say that since you NEED to eat poultry,
therefore you are a Material person. Be assured that there are those
who avoid all meats who are probably more material than you are.

Skimmed or otherwise, Hindus consider milk to be a gift from the cow.
I suppose if a cow were forced to give up its milk, a Hindu should
avoid taking it. But all the cows I have seen being milked seem to be
quite content about it.
This brings up an interesting, though hypothetical, point. Those of
you who used to read Al Capp's cartoon Lil Abner may remember the
creatures called shmoos. Now these creatures lived to serve Man and
willingly gave up their lives, becoming whatever kind of food the man
wished to eat. I wonder what class those foods would be slotted into.
