All of these questions imply misunderstanding of the terms used.
The prescription is more thorough study.

This whole question implies a misunderstanding of karma.
Happiness and unhappiness are not related to karma.

Although I am not an Advaitin, I have studied it.
These questions evidence a misunderstanding of "illusory", a
misunderstanding of "renounce", a misunderstanding of "world", and a
misunderstanding of "maya".
A good text here is "The Spiritual Teachings of Ramana Maharshi"
(published by Shambhala Books).

I'll leave this to the Vaishnavas.... but I'll make a comment or two.

Do they? I've never found that to be true...
>(Since Buddha was against idol-worship).
I've never heard this either.....

I think you took the following statements out of context.
If you choose a very small number of words to quote, you can probably
make a case that anyone said anything you choose.
Certainly each chapter of scripture has a message as a whole, taking
one sentence doesn't tell you much.
Just to give an example, in one newsgroup some months ago, someone
quoted sentences from Ken Wilber and George Feuerstein to show that
they thought the opposite of what I think. After getting the books,
I found that those statements were taken out of context and seemed to
say the opposite of what they really meant.
