There is a famous story about this:

A temple priest was on a journey from his temple to a gathering of
priests in his area.

One day in his journey, it was starting to get dark and he looked for
a place to stop for the night. He came upon a lake with an island in
the middle with a house on it. There was a small ferry boat tied up
at the shore, so he decided to see if he could spend the night at the
house on the island.

When he got there, he found that there were three men living a very
ascetic life in the house. The three men were glad to extend
hospitality to the priest, and they all went to bed for the night.

The next day, the priest attended the morning puja conducted by the
three men and was horrified to discover that their pronunciations of
many of the holy words and names was very inaccurate. After the
puja, he chided the men for their lapses. They replied, "Please
instruct us, we could not bear that our praises of the Lord might be
incorrect." He spent the rest of the morning correcting their
pronunciation and then proceeded on his way.

He had almost crossed the lake in the small ferry boat, when he heard
shouts behind him. He turned and to his amazement, saw the three men
running over the surface of the lake towards him. "Wait! Wait!" they
shouted. "We've forgotten the pronunciation of one of the words!"
they cried in anguish after finally reaching the ferry boat.

As he recovered his composure, the priest replied "It doesn't matter;
just keep doing what you were doing before."

Cheers,

Ken
