Cosmic Man in Rigveda

Hi, I am a Sikh who is interested in understanding your religion. I was
reading the other day in a book called "Prasaraprasna" about how Hindu and
Buddhist monestic orders shave the hair on their head as a step towards
attaining spirituality, symbolic of renouncing the world. And Shiva, who is
considered to have attained this spiritual perfection is always represented
with a pyramid of matted hair on his head, but never with shorn hair. This
relates with the description of the cosmic man in the Rigveda. Can someone
explain to me what is meant by a cosmic man, and what message is being conveyed
by Rigveda when this symolism of hair is mentioned.

Thank You.

Sincerely,

Harpreet Singh Anand
