SRH Reorg:Skewed Stats of Posting Delays
Namaskar,
Please note that the discussion around delay in
posting etc. statistics etc., is quite deceptive and stems out
of personal vendetta against the moderator of SRH (i.e., me).
The claim that the posts were as long as 10 days delayed is
mostly hoax, since the posts referred to as being delayed for
that many days were:
1. either submitted to incorrect address (editor@rbhatnagar.csm.uc.edu
instead of srh@rbhatngar.csm.uc.edu), and I manually "bounce" them
whenever I see those messages.
2. Submitted to alt.hindu, instead of soc.religion.hindu, and I
manually changed the Newsgroup line, if they were more useful
to SRH, so that they would be posted to SRH instead. This
manual processessing is optional on my part and can take a few
days. The newsgroup line is changed, however, the older dates are
retained. Leading, once again, to skewed statistics and perhaps
providing a weapon for personal vendetta.
3. Some posts require extensive communications with the author.
Posts such as "Dignity" event was one such example. Where apparently
the event wass unrelated to this newsgroup, but upon personal
communication for a few days, the author emphasized that the event
was "interfaith" in nature. So, I as a moderator take time to
communicate with the readers/posters of this newsgroup, rather than
spending my time in devising skewed statistics.
Once again, additionally, I note that the time to archive is unrelated
to the time the articles are posted.
I am certain that the readers will understand that the moderator
cannot be held responsible for the misdirected posts, and/or
posts not containing proper Newsgroup line. After all, I use the
same posting software that is used by many other moderators.
I hope that the readers of SRH will see through the petty politics
surrounding SRH reorganization issue. I urge the proponents of SRH
re-organiztion to utilize their time and effort to help the Hindu
dharma on the net, rather than oppose the word Hindu first, or
vote against the Hindu newsgroup first and then devise schemes to
destroy the existing Hindu newsgroup.
