The Kali-Yuga (the age of darkness) is supposed to be 432,000 yrs. long.
The age is supposed to be pretty bad one, (in terms of economics, harmony
morality, etc.) It is said that in Sat-Yuga, there truth had four legs.
In Tretaa-Yuga, world was standing over 3 legs made of truth, and 1 leg
of falsehood. In Dwaapara Yuga, this ration became: 2:2. And in the
present Yuga, we live in a world, founded on 25% truth, and rest false-
hood.
This Yuga is supposed to be about 5000 yrs old. It started, with the
crowning of Parikshit (or it is the death of Krsna) over the empire
left by Yudhisthir.
Puranic texts tell us, the primacy of Dharma will be re-established
with the appearance of Kalki. But then there is a long time for that.
So, rather than hope for a Kalki to appear, it is the duty of all
men and women, to live by Dharmic standards, and ensure righteousness
in our lives.
