As it applies to the situation at hand, the word "politics" is
defined as "maneuvering for power etc. within a group," and the
verb "politicize" means " to give political character to."
Therefore, to "de-politicize" a newsgroup one needs to curb the use
of the newsgroup as an arena for maneuvering for power. Definitions
used above are from the Oxford American Dictionary.
