Re: SRH reorganization

My thoughts on the SRH move for re-organization.

The compromise proposed by Mani Varadarajan has several points of
merit. In particular, the idea of having an unmoderated group for
discussing the political aspects of Hinduism/Hindus is a good one.
Further,it would be wonderful to involve the likes of Raghu Seshadri
and Srini Pichumani (whose names have been proposed as co-moderators),
both of whom display good judgement and pack considerable intellectual
fire-power, in the activities of representing the Dharma on Internet.
This should not be construed as a failing of the present moderator or
his abilities, rather an enhancement of the current set-up.

I wish the acrimony of the past few weeks hadn't come to pass. The
current moderator of SRH, Ajay Shah, has admirably carried out his
duties in the past and to cast aspersions on his character and integrity
is highly unfair and unfortunate. A lapse here and there doesn't merit
such a hostile reaction that we've seen from certain quarters and the
insinuation that he has a preset agenda, political or otherwise, for
SRH is hogwash.

Be that as it may, it is time to look to the future. To that end, I urge
Ajay to give Mani's proposal a hard look and I hope that the two can soon
come to the table and thresh out an acceptable formula.
