you mean 'prescribed'.
There are many who believe in
manthro` haani swaratho` varNatho`vaa,
savaagvajro` yajamaanam hanthi.
[i dont know the source]
mantra can do harm if swara ( musical note`a) , varna are not
propoerly followed.
so the above advice of mani v. may not be out to place.
