When "Hindu" is used as a geographical term according to the
Brihannaradi Puraan denoting the region lying between the Himaalaya
mountains and the Bindu Sarovar, then the answer is technically in
the affirmative. Similarly, a Muslim living in South America is a
South American as well, except that he or she may be less inclined
to use the description if "South American" were to be used by many
people to signify a religion.
