REQUEST : Vairavar as a Deity
Can anyone give me some information about Vairavar as a deity, his
social and geographical significance. He is a popular deity in Jaffna but
not so-well known in Tamil-Nadu. Many of the books i read indicate that
Bhairava is a tantric form of Lord Shiva.
I am interested in knowing about the Tamil aspect of Vairavar as i
believe it will help me understand more about the people of jaffna and
their religion. The Periya Puranam itself has very few sentences about
him. Can anyone enlighten me? i would really appreciate that. I would like
to know the stories that are associated with him in the southern parts of
India and the clans/areas where he is worshipped.
