ARTICLE : Spread of Hinduism
I just want to see some of the arguments on the following subject:
What do you think of spreading religion by methods such as the
"crusades" or, as it was more the case in older times, spreading certain
religions by force? It is interesting that there was never an effort to
spread Hinduism and convert other peoples in a similar manner. If
ancient Indians had wanted to do such (say 3000-5000 yrs. ago), the
world's distribution of religion would be vastly different. Of course,
one main reason is that it is now part of the Hindu philosophy to
"spread" their religion(sort of a "believe as rigidly or loosely as you
want" ideology), as Hinduism is very flexible and adaptive. One of my
reasons for bringing this up was because when I was reading an article
last month about the likely possibility Martian life, a certain
professor of Christian Theology said that,"If there is life elsewhere,
we will give full effort to attempt to convert them." I thought that
was a little bit extreme.
Just curious.
