I really don't like the implied meaning that a person like myself or any
well-meaning or sincere seeker is necessarily a colonial imperialist or
cultural vamp. This sort of reply borders on the insultive. There are
people who exploit others' traditions, but there is also a natural and
organic process of synthesis and any sentient entity to grow always
accepts and internalizes influences not necessarily indigenous to it. To
argue for any sort of essentialist purity betrays an intolerance as
negative and repulsive as the act it condemns. I thank the Divine Mother
that the great majority of South Asians I've been blessed to worship and
live with haven't the politically correct meanness you seem to express.
