ID CARDS FOR THE HINDU PRIESTS

MEASURES.

Special ID cards for the Hindu priests and fishermen in
Jaffna. Major General Janaka Perera is going to issue
special identity cards to Hindu priests in Jaffna as a
response to the complaints made by the Union of Hindu
Priests that they are constantly being harrassed by the
mainly Buddhist soldiers at check posts.
The fishermen within the peninsula have already been issued
with special identity cards, without which they are not
allowed to go to the sea for fishing.
Restrictions regarding the areas allocated for the fishing
are still in force.  Fishing boats are not permitted to go

beyond a mile from the shore; and that too within sight of
the nearest army camp.
