Of course, it was as easy for the ancients to write "science
fantasy" as it is for moderns. Demonstrating the existence of such
life is another matter.

And, who is to assert that the ancient texts were not referring to
non-material planes of reality and not planets in the physical universe?

I however agree that extra-terrestrial life is very likely (more likely
yes than no), especially considering the recent discovery of planets
ourside the solar  system (see the article in Time Magazine).
