Harryji, define Hindu ? :-)
vishhNu puraaNa explicity mentions that
those who kill a cow
those who abort {a child}
those who drink wine
those who engage in incest
go to different types of hell. It is mentioned in Book 2, Chapter
6. If I remember right, the chapter also mentions 28 types of hells and
who goes to what {depending on actions}. I am sure esteemed readers of
srh can compare the names of the 28 types of hells given in the vishhNu
puraaNa with the hells described in Markandekya puraaNa.
Since you ask whether vedas mention any thing about beef, I think
Rg Veda does state that killing a cow is equal to killing a brahmin. I
am not sure though of the stanzas/verses etc.
