Check out the story of the Varaha avatar of Maha Vishnu. Maha vishnu
appears on earth as a boar and saves the world from the great flood. I
am not much of a story teller and I am not up on the details and hence
cannot expand on it. Incidentally, my cousin, Uma Krishnaswami has
written an excellent childrens book with flood stories from different
cultures.
