Brahmin is a religious category ? And Hinduism is not a
religious category when talking about India's religious diversity ?
If you are going to split Hinduism into Vaishnavities and
Shaivities etc, why not split Christianity into Catholics, Protestants etc
and Muslims in Shia and Suniis ?
Finally, all those Hindus who aren't shaivaities or vaishnavities
would be classified as "other" ?
