It seems to me that the whole premise needs a second look. In the
DasAvatara stotram, Sri JayaDeva says....
Keshava dhrita .... sharira jaya Jagadisha Hare.
Keshava is the name of Sri Krishna, not of Lord Vishnu. Please look at
the initial verses in Chapter 4 of the SBG, where Sri Krishna said that
He took many births before and He remembers them all. The DasAvataras
are among some of these births.
