I specifically wanted to discourage the equating 
of ``Astika'' and ``theistic''.  It does *not* mean
that in the Indian philosophical context.  Rather,
the word has only implied an acceptance of the
Veda as a source of knowledge.  Buddhists and Jains,
the two most prominent nAstika schools, do not 
accept the Veda as an unassailable source of 
knowledge.

The ``asti'' refers to the Veda, not to God.
