Since you asked... :-)

It seems to me that this is one of the many things in spiritual life
which cannot be intellectualized, but can only be practiced. One way is
to dedicate everything you do to the Divine and give it your full
concentration. Gradually, the concentration becomes more and more
intense and more and more subtle. When one is concentrated, even on
worldly matters, if the ego is not involved, one is not thinking about
the past or the future and so the mind is not in the way. That is how
all great works of art and science are performed. And, this is a
stepping stone to the spiritual realization of the NOW. "Great art is a
stepping stone to Eternal Beauty." (Michaelangelo)

I hope that this doesn't imply that I can do this. But, I have been
practicing it for many years and I do get some glimpses into real
concentration.

My Teacher gave some beautiful discourses on this topic and I'll post
some of them here, if I can find them.
