Dear Dhrubaji:
Thanks for bringing out another important issue, the intentional
misrepresentation of our great living epics. Contrast this peter brooks
representation of Mahabharata, with the grandeur of the movies, Ten
commandments or Ben Hur. Peter Brooks wanted Mahabharata to appear as
nothing more than a tribal fight between some primitive groups. Even the
multiracial cast was calculated to demean the majesty of characters. And
oh, our english media! they have no soul.
To talk about the essence of Mahabharata: Do they understand that the
grandeur of the setting is as much a part of the story and affects the
psyche and prepares for all the subtle and fine teachings of Dharma?
The tele series of both Ramayana and Mahabharata, in my opinion were
really great- Sincerely, Narahari Achar
