my understanding of the above statement is that we should
be more broad minded in accepting different paths of
hinduism. [for example, we should be able to stop throwing
a stone or two on every occassion on Sai-baba followers or
Hare Krishnas].

insisting that *all* vaishnavas must be hindus and that srv should be
srhv, on the other hand, implies that everyone interested in
follwing a path of vaishnava, must kneel down and get stamped
*hindu* on their forehead, and this by no stretch of imagination, be
classed under broad mindedness. no one said vaishnavas as a rule
are not hindus. we all know that most vaishnavas are in fact hindus.
the only point made earlier was that there could be some
vaishnavas from beyond the borders of india who many not consider
themselves hindus, but who do follow the path of devotion to krishna
must be able to follow the path without some one insisting on their
acceptance of hinduism. and this indeed fits the broadminded
approach Vijay was implying. [ofcourse, i am not Vj, and i cant
speak for him. it is just my understanding]
