Singam, I used the word 'steal' for two reasons: one is that people
were so amazed to see the milk disappear before their very eyes, and
two, it reminded me of the story of how a Deity stoled sweet rice for His
devotee Madhavendra Puri in the fifteenth century.
He hid it under His skirt and later in a dream, instructed the pujari to
take the sweet rice He had stolen to the marketplace where he would find
Madhavendra Puri resting. In fact, in Toronto at the New Remuna Temple,
our major Deity is called Ksira-cora Gopinatha, "Gopinatha who stoled the
sweet rice". :-)
So it seems that both Gopinatha and Lord Ganesha are just butter thieves
like little Damodara and the monkeys. :-D Such wonderful rascalry.
