A study of previous manifestations is not only important but
routinely conducted in Jyotish. One of the steps requires a
consideration of Dwadashaunsh harmonic chart of the person.
The delineation begins with a finding of the Loke to which the
individual soul is immediately related, whether it be Brahm,
Dev, Triya, or Narak Loke. Namaskaar.
I am fairly ignorant of Hindu astrology, but I would make the
distinction here that Jai's response is slightly different from the
original post. According to Jai, some things about the individual's
past can be inferred from seeing the influence of larger motions of
planets etc. This seems somewhat different from someone actually
remembering his past life due to some pre-existing mental context.
