Balasubramaniam -ji : I don't know how you can intrepret my post
to mean that I said women are incapable of attaining salvation. Bhagvad
Gita explicity states this is not the case. I simply said they are not
allowed to recite vedas. If you feel I am wrong and dharma suutras written
by humans should not be heeded to, so be it.
Let me repeat again : Based on my understanding (not that it is
right or wrong), women or shudras are not allowed to recite vedas. Reciting
vedas no way reflects on whether one attains salvation or not. The path
to salvation is open to all, who makes an effort, irrespective of caste,
creed, birth, gender, nationality etc.
This will be my last posting on this topic.
