Thanks for the info. I am reasonably acquainted with chiva puraaNam, but not
much of M's works. I do have his collection with swami chitbhavananda's
explanations. Do you know the verse by any chance? swami c has changed the
traditional order and given the poems in his own order, so if you have the
verse can you mail it to me?

Count me as one more of those who got fooled by the maadhaviiya shaMkara vijayam
:-). My details about history are quite legendary, meaning near zilch :-).
