Indian Goddess
Hi,
This is in response to a posting regarding an Indian Goddess
named "KUMARI". I do not know whether Indians have any Goddess named
like that but Nepalis do have a Goddess called "KUMARI". The name
signifies a vergin.
One interesting thing about this Goddess is that she is a living
person. There is a fairly complicated procedure of selecting a "Kumari".
She is supposed to have pure powers and even King of Nepal visits her
every year to pay homage. Once the "Kumari" attains youth and bleeds
(starts period) she has to be replaced my a new "Kumari".
